Amused by Al-Ghad’s mistranslation: 30 Rock as 30 Stones!

Posted by Samer Marzouq

30Rock is 30Stones!

I wonder, do people working in Al Ghad newspaper have any access to the internet? Do they conduct enough research before they write the paper? I noticed this piece of news in yesterday’s edition of Al Ghad, it’s about American sitcom 30 Rock’s Emmy nominations‎, the stupid thing about it is the translation.

30 Rock, or 30 Rockefeller Plaza, is the address of GE Building in New York, this building contains NBC Studios where the show 30 Rock takes place, so it doesn’t have anything to do with rocks and stones, as our friends in Al Ghad thought! Although I know these information because I like the show, I did a small research before writing this post :)

Traditional media people always take on blogs for the lack of credibility, because they think bloggers are not experts enough to conduct enough research to back their information. I recall a story in the same newspaper about a living doll that turned to be a nonsense, one of the bloggers made fuss about it, I don’t remember who, but it shows that a high-end daily newspaper like Al-Ghad could be inaccurate like this.

This is a goodwill post for a newspaper I like and admire :)
