Graphic designer produce design solutions to communicate the messages with high visual impact. Graphic design solutions are required for a huge variety of products and activities, such as websites, advertising, books, magazines, posters, computer games, product packaging, exhibitions and displays, corporate communications and corporate identity, e.g. giving organizations a visual ‘brand’.
A graphic designer’s job may involve managing more than one design brief at a time, allocating the relevant amount of time according to the value of the job. Typical work activities include:
- meeting the supplicant to discuss the business objectives and requirements of the job;
- interpreting the client’s business needs and developing a concept to suit their purpose;
- estimating the time required to complete the work and providing quotes for clients;
- developing design briefs by gathering information and data through research;
- thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts;
- using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time;
- presenting finalized ideas and concepts to supplicants;
- working with a wide range of media, including photography and computer-aided design (CAD);
- proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work;
- contributing ideas and design artwork to the overall brief;
- demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches;
- keeping abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design programmes such as Quark Xpress, FreeHand, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D Studio, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver and Flash, as most graphic design work is now completed on a computer;
- working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, supplicants and web developers.
- Reviews and approves art and copy materials developed by team and presents final layouts to client for approval.
- Make decisions on a daily basis that ensure both profitability and creative quality.
- Set expectations and standards (build a culture) for creative team attitude, behavior, teamwork and professional development. Lead accordingly.
- Managing outside resources, including vendors, photographers, color separators, printers, freelancers, web and interactive sub-contractors.
- Quality control, including proofing, reviewing, measuring and evaluating staff performance, creative output and project process (es).
- Direct the activities and professional development of creative team members, including conducting staff reviews, taking corrective actions and recommending promotions.
- Study the creative marketplace, assessing where Schermer Kuehl’s work stands against competitors’, as well as our clients’ competitors’ creative work.
- Drive constant improvement in company’s creative quality and capabilities.
- Contribute to the strategic and creative development of the agency’s marketing and branding efforts for new business development.
Skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) as well as great attention to detail required.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting demanding deadlines, producing high quality work.
- Excellent interpersonal skill and high emotional intelligence required.
- Professional in adobe PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR, InDesign & Auto CAD.
- Must possess a thorough understanding of interactive communications and delivery systems, processes, and user interface design as well as industry best practices.
- Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography & limitations of the web; and have the ability to storyboard or translate ideas to designers and develop innovative motion graphics solutions.
- Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

- Fluency in Arabic and English.
Education
Bachelor’ Degree in Arts graduate, Graphic Design or equivalent
