Average monthly salary of employees in the Gulf is $8,857

Arabian Business has revealed some of the outcomes of the Salary Survey that was conducted earlier this year, 3,000 people working in Gulf countries, mostly in the United Arab Emirates. According to the survey, the average monthly salary is $8,857.

Pay Raise:
65.2% of participants didn’t receive any raise in the second half of 2008
54.8% of participants don’t expect to get a raise in the coming month

Job Security:
41.4% are completely confident about their job
41.4% are less sure about their job
10.4% are anxious about their job
6.8% are either made redundant or told they will be made redundant
~ 75% of people who work in real estate are worried about losing their job ~

Average monthly salary by nationalities:
Americans came first with $19,000
Australians came second with $17,000
South Africans came third with $16,152
British came fourth with $14,500
Canadians came fifth with $13,726

The survey also revealed that workers from the Philippines were the worst paid, with an average of $3,082 a month, Syrians came second from bottom in the salary rankings, Indians (average of $6,000), Pakistanis and Egyptians completed the bottom five.
