Silly mistake in a Jordanian ad, Khaleek Areeb!

Had to share it, I saw this ad yesterday in AlGhad newspaper with a silly mistake in the header. This ad costs more than 1,000 JD’s (it’s on the first page of the third section). For those who don’t speak Arabic there is a letter “q” that is being spelled in many different ways; ‘g’, ‘a’ and ‘k’ in addition to the original way, in this ad it was written as an ‘a’ but this is wrong since it should be written as an ‘q’ no matter how you are gonna say it.

the headline was written in colloquial Arabic. they’re just being consistent. otherwise, it would read like this:

    ????? ???? ?? ????
    ???? ????

    ???? ?? ????

    Trust me, this was intentional.

And you posting this ad and “advertising” for it, proves how clever this ad is.

    :)

You’re right man! I do not think it’s so necessary to use “3ammyeh” or spoken language in ads!!

lol globalorama :D man the ad was written in formal accent, if it all funky you might have a point, but again it is still ‘q’ no matter how u r gonna read it.

subzero and amjad, you can have an eye-catchy header for the ad without making mistakes.

Yugi u can use it in ads but not overdoing it like this, of course the formal accent is better.

    I guess the third one Moh’d :)

Once I was telling a girl in some shop my name, so I said samer marzo2 as the casual pronunciation so she actually wrote it down with 2a instead of q :)

They use “3aameeyah” to make it eye catching, no wonder you even blogged about it! =P

Well i agree with some of your comments guys!! but i think if this ad makes you talk about “Areeb or whatever it is” that means this ad is eye catchy!! and good :)

And i would like the say something to clearup your minds there is a Slogans and there is a brandnames could be like 5alek areeb “fastlink” and this man try to give a msg for the people so it’s not TM and he can write whatever he wants ;)

Goodluck and keep sharp eye on “3amyeh” ads ;)
