Dubai-UAE: 28 March, 2012 – A delegation from the Kuwaiti Journalists Association visited Dubai Press Club, organisers of the Arab Media Forum, as part of their tour to the UAE during the on-going Kuwaiti Week in Dubai.

Headed by Jassem Mohammed Kamal, Board Member of Kuwaiti Journalists Association, the delegation included Jassem Mohammed Al Tinayb, Member of the General Assembly and Journalist in Al Watan newspaper, Kamel Al Shammari, Member of the General Assembly and a Journalist in Al Anbaa newspaper, and Hani Awad, Chief Correspondent in Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Maryam bin Fahad, Executive Director of Dubai Press Club, briefed the delegation on preparations for the 11th Arab Media Forum that is scheduled to be held from 8-9 May 2012. Themed ‘Arab Media: Exposure and Transition’, the event is set to draw the participation of prominent journalists, academics and decision makers from around the world.

The Kuwaiti delegation was also informed about best ways to register for the event through the forum’s site www.arabmediaforum.ae and the process of preparing submissions for the Arab Journalism Awards.

The DPC team additionally presented a detailed explanation on the fourth edition of the Arab Media Outlook report, which will monitor transformations in the media sector across17 Arab countries. The report will particularly examine media consumption patterns in four Arab countries across different media platforms, besides assessing the impact of broadband penetration and the increased use of social media networks on consumer attitudes. Additionally, the report will identify new opportunities for disseminating and leveraging content.

Jassim Mohammed Kamal applauded DPC for its activities in the Arab world and stressed on the importance of cooperation and transfer of expertise. He expressed his desire to witness the implementation of similar results-oriented media driven projects in Kuwait and the wider Arab region. The delegation also presented a trophy to DPC in recognition of their efforts.

The Kuwaiti Journalists Association delegation wrapped up their visit to DPC inviting its members to participate in the calendar of activities at the Kuwaiti Week in Dubai.
