Design and Product Officer | Doha

Our client, a joint venture between the State of Qatar and the Qatar National Olympic Committee, is currently in search of a Design and Product Officer to be the design support within the Product Development department, to ensure that designs & product link up with the needs of the market and fulfill the design briefs submitted by Brand Managers and clients and to provide stock monitoring and inventory control and supplier performance reports.

1. Design and Development
- Creating/visualizing an idea & making sketch by hand or by computer aided design (CAD)
-Analyzing trends in fabric, colors and shapes
-Develop product ranges based around a core theme
-Construct product ranges specific to client requirements
-Provide instant design service to enable customers to visualize ranges in their specific colors
-Create brand guidelines and branding rules for customers
-Working with Product manager to ensure product design meets the design brief criteria
-Developing patterns and garment fits
-Adapting designs to suit mass production
-Generate Graphic Design creative’s to support sponsorship pitches, advertising pitches and in house communications

2. Monitoring of Product
-Analyze monthly inventory /sales report to provide stock level reports
-Provide assessment of sample garments according to predetermined criteria in terms of style, fit and comparison to original design
-determine product specifications / details & communicate those to factories
-Monitoring supplier production schedules to keep on track with delivery requirements
-Activate QC programs and procedures, provide reports on all incoming product shipments
-Investigate and report on product performance in the market place
-Generation of inventory codes according to company codification structure
-Preparation of purchase orders to suppliers prior to loading onto company system

Qualifications needed for the role are as follows:
1. Degree in Apparel or Fashion Design, or equivalent professional qualification
2. Must have a minimum 3-5 years in product design experience in sports apparel or lifestyle products.
3. The ideal candidate will have an excellent design and creative portfolio and an understanding of apparel product sourcing .
4. Must have high ability to work within given timelines under pressure.
5. Must have high ability to work closely and give direction to manufacturers and clients relative to their area of expertise.
