Digital Communications / Public Relations – also referred to as online public relations or new media PR – is the practice of leveraging online media, monitoring online search engines and the social web as channels of communication, engagement and influence.
This is a fast-growing field worldwide, and a dedicated in-house specialist is required to be responsible for managing and growing the online reputation of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.
The role involves working across social media platforms such as Blogs, Wikipedia, RSS aggregators, Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and YouTube and would relate to Marketing, Events, Promotions, Tourism Standards and Strategy & Policy as ‘in-house clients’ to promote their activities and engage social communities with ADTA as an organisation and Abu Dhabi as a destination.
The position functions as an Online Community Manager, involving participating in and stimulating online conversations on behalf of ADTA and Abu Dhabi, identifying the most relevant key influences related to tourism.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Creating, developing and managing official ADTA sites
- Creating, developing and managing official ADTA avatars
- Engaging industry stakeholders, both in the UAE and internationally through professional web forums.
- Creating, developing and managing Wikipedia sites
- Creating, developing and managing official web accounts
- Interactive Intranet content management
- Monitoring and Evaluating
Requirements
It’s a job for a social media guru & communications expert, with strong digital PR abilities and previous experience in online content creation. Experience of evaluating social media and digital campaigns within a broader communications framework is essential.
