Durex has rolled out a new digital campaign targeting the Middle East with the help of their agency BuzzMan, which recently opened an office in Dubai, the campaign, SOS Condoms, is a service that enables to order condoms and have them delivered to you in less than an hour, discreetly.
At first I found the campaign very interesting, the concept is cool, I wasn’t expecting much though, I mean in Dubai everything can be delivered to you with a single phone call, you don’t really need to go through a long process that includes downloading an app, locating yourself on the map, entering your details, selecting the product you want, and eventually confirming the order, but eventually I decided to go through the process.
The SOS Condom offers you 3 products to choose from, each comes in a 12-pack package that will cost you AED55, which is the same price I pay at the supermarket next door, and I live in JBR, where prices are 40% extra! Anyway, the order was made, half an hour later I received a phone call from the delivery guy asking me to open the door.
This is how it was delivered, a box of condoms with an invoice, no pizza box, not even a bag for the sake of being discreet, it was a bit of disappointment to be honest, I mean if I called the supermarket or the pharmacy downstairs, I would had them delivered to me faster, at no extra money!
