Facebook launches ‘Home’ to turn the Android phone into a social phone

Home is designed to be the next version of Facebook

Dubai, UAE, April 05, 2013 – Facebook today is introducing ‘Home’, a new way to turn the Android phone into a great social phone. ‘Home’ will be available on April 12 in the US and will be rolling out over the coming days and weeks globally.

Prior to the launch of ‘Home’, Facebook users connect and share to discover new information and build meaningful relationships, while phones were built around tasks and applications. To find out about friends activities, users navigate through a series of separate app. Today, social networking will witness a remarkable evolvement with the launch of Facebook’s ‘Home’. ‘Home’ isn’t a phone or an operating system, and it is more than an application. It is a completely new experience that lets users see the world through people not applications.

Through ‘Home’, people will be able to have access to cover feed; as it replaces the lock screen and home screen, as a window into what’s happening with friends. In addition, there will be access to chat heads, which will enable users to keep on chatting with friends, and messages will be reached no matter what the users are doing. In addition, Facebook personalized the notifications by allowing users to receive the important notifications with the profile pictures of the sender.

Home will be available as a free download from the Google Play Store starting April 12 in the US, and it works on the HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung GALAXY S III and Samsung GALAXY Note II. Home will also work on the forthcoming HTC One and Samsung GALAXY S4, and on more devices in the coming months.

Home will also be available pre-installed on phones through the Facebook Home Program https://www.facebook.com/home. HTC and AT&T, in the US, are the first companies working together to deliver a phone with Home. It’s called the HTC First and it will go on sale on April 12. Home is designed to be the next version of Facebook.

Download Home – and put your friends front and center on your phone.
