Reporting to the Managing Editor, the Feature Writer will be primarily responsible for writing general interest features and analysis, in particular, pertaining to arts, drama, music, fashion, beauty, health, entertainment, business, sports, motoring, finance, money, etc.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Conceptualizing feature story ideas in conjunction with the Managing Editor and Editor.
• Writing informative, entertaining and newsworthy articles and meeting editorial deadlines.
• Interviewing newsmakers on a regular basis.
• Obtaining exclusive interviews with celebrity newsmakers.
• Providing, and in association with Photo Editor and Design Desk, ensuring supply of photos and other visual elements needed to illustrate feature copy.
• Working with a camera on assignment, as and when needed.
• Providing support to News/Business Reporter, as and when needed.
• Supervising the layout, appearance and content of feature articles in the newspaper.
• Attending and coordinating photo shoots.
• Attending daily editorial conferences, as well as other regular meetings.
