H.H. Announces the Big Entertainment Show 2012

Dubai – United Arab Emirates, November 30th 2011: H.H. Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority inaugurated today the fourth edition of the Dubai International Character and Licensing Fair, Dubai World Game Expo and MYCONTENT at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition centre.

The inauguration was followed by a tour around the exhibition area where H.H. was introduced to over 200 local and international exhibiting companies, from the fields of video games, animation, cartoon characters, in addition to a number of TV and film production companies, distributors, mobile TV, digital content, media content, and other trade companies.

H.H. was also introduced to the services provided by the exhibiting companies, who came from 50 countries including Iran, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and for the first time Spain. In addition there are over 300 cartoon characters participating in the show, while local participation had registered 30%. The combined event is expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors over four days for the public and business event.

The organizers have dedicated the first two days for B2B activities, creating an excellent platform for businessmen, investors and leaders of this industry to interact and discuss the latest updates and productions. While the 2nd and 3rd of December are public days, where kids and families can take part in the multiple activities and celebrate the UAE national day with their favorite characters.

The event’s agenda features a number of activities including; the “Entertainment Content Summit”, the “Dubai World Game Summit” and the “World Game Championship”. Both of the summits will introduce over 50 of the most prominent speakers specialized in the games development character, licensing and TV content industries, which in return will reflect positively on the development of these industries and attract more investments to the United Arab Emirates and the region.

H.H. Sheikh Majid announced that this prestigious event will be held next year under the name the Big Entertainment Show, which will be the umbrella that embraces the three events. Mr. Tariq Al Madani, the Managing Director of Index Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Est. said: “the Big Entertainment Show will be the largest show in the Middle East Region specialized in Media and TV content, licensing, Characters and Game Development, in addition it will have all trading companies working in the export and import business on board.”

Mr. Al Madani also said: “the Character Dubai, MYCONTENT and Game Expo coincide this year with the 40th anniversary of the UAE national day; which is a very special occasion for all UAE nationals and residents as well. The fourth edition of the Dubai World Game Expo and the Dubai International Character and Licensing Fair is an addition to the success achieved during the past three years. Character Dubai in particular seeks to enhance the licensing business including character and trade marks licensing in the Middle East market. On the other hand, the summit highlights the importance of this promising market and the potential for the Middle East and the region markets to be pioneers in the world licensing markets.
