London, 15 February 2010 – The 3rd Eurobest Advertising Festival, Europe’s leading awards and annual event for creative advertising and communications will be held this year in Hamburg, one of Germany’s leading advertising cities.
The 3-day Festival, which has previously been held in both Stockholm and Amsterdam, will take place 6-8 December at the centrally located historic Handelskammer, Hamburg’s Chamber of Commerce.
“The decision to stage Eurobest in Hamburg was easy. German advertising has consistently been ranked in the top three countries in the world. In 2009, Germany was the third most awarded country at Cannes Lions and as well as being joint first at Eurobest. It is fitting that Europe’s premier advertising event will be hosted in a city that is one of Germany’s powerhouses of creativity,” said Philip Thomas, CEO of Cannes Lions, organisers of Eurobest. “We look forward to working with our partners WerbeWeischer and the City of Hamburg to put on another great European Festival for the industry,” he added.
Prof. Dr. Karin v. Welck, Hamburg’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Media commented, “We are very proud to welcome the Eurobest Advertising Festival 2010 to our city. Hamburg is one of the most attractive cities in Europe and the leading German metropolis for the creative industries. More than 20,000 companies from the media and information technology sector are based here. Typical for Hamburg are the close ties between creativity on the one hand and economic demands on the other. That is the key to our success in the communication sector. The decision to stage the Eurobest Advertising Festival 2010 in Hamburg is a most appreciated international recognition of Hamburg’s particular competence as a centre of media and advertising proficiency!”
More than 800 delegates from 36 countries attended the 2009 Eurobest Advertising Festival in Amsterdam partaking in 26 cutting-edge and sometimes controversial seminars and eight interactive workshops presented by 76 industry leaders from 65 companies who addressed the issues, challenges and opportunities that European agencies are currently facing. Over 4000 entries compete and are judged on site with the winners being revealed at the Eurobest Awards, Europe’s largest awards for creative advertising now celebrating 23 years.
An Integrated Young Creative Competition, exhibitions, screening kiosks, an array of networking opportunities, including the now famous and fun Networking-After-Dark hosted by several top local advertising agencies, the opening and after parties, are some of the activities enjoyed by Eurobest participants.
