Head of Communications | Doha, Qatar

A shipping company based in the Middle East is looking to hire a Head of Communications to plan, assess and contribute to the development and implementation of the overall corporate communication strategy and programs to achieve the company’s (internal & external) communications goals and objectives.

Tasks and Duties:
• Plans and develops initiatives which build the company’s image as the world’s leading LNG transportation company.
• Recommends, develops, and implements corporate strategies and plans to identify, enhance and sustain a consistent corporate image and messages (internally and externally) in all communications to all stakeholders, partners and audiences.
• Oversees and monitors all dealings and relationships with local and international media (print, broadcasting and television) to ensure the company’s actions and messages are reported consistent with the Company’s intention and image.
• Identifies and influences opinion leaders within government bodies, local authorities and public establishments in order to ensure that the communications requirements are fully understood and considered by those bodies in their dealings with the Company.
• Writes and reviews all press and media statements, interview articles and public speeches.
• Supports Public Relations Manager in preparing annual and 5 year Budget.
• Supports and advises senior management on presentations/speeches they deliver.
• Responsible for participating and supporting Company Crisis Communications and Emergency Response.
• Responsible for Company Website and maintains the Intranet.
• Develops and produces the Company in-house Magazine and other Publications.

Requirements:
• B.A. in Journalism/Media Communications or equivalent.
• 10+ years experience in Public Relations in the gas or oil industry in absolutely necessary.
• Fluency in English & Arabic language is also an asset.
• Proficiency in the use of various computer software packages such as Freelance, Harvard Graphics, Excel, Access/d Base and specialist Graphics Design packages is important.
