Media Relations Officer | Georgetown University Doha, Qatar

The Media Relations Officer will serve as the primary liaison between the Office of Public Affairs at SFS-Qatar and local, regional and international English- and Arabic-speaking press. This position will be primarily responsible for writing and translating English press releases and news articles for dissemination online and to media outlets around the world.

Additionally, the Media Relations Officer will work to ensure adequate media coverage of the University by working with local English-speaking media to respond to queries and interview requests for faculty, as well as pitching event and story ideas to media. The incumbent will work with Public Affairs team to implement and execute internal and external communications strategies to promote the University and ensure adequate representation to Arabic-speaking community. Some evening and weekend work will be required to support media inquiries at University-sponsored events, as well as other duties as assigned. This position is based in Doha, Qatar.

Skills
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in communications, or Journalism. Must possess a strong command of written and spoken English and Arabic languages. At least 3 years experience in Media relations, advertising or Journalism Strong writing or Journalism background. English fluency required. Expert proficiency in MS Office Suite. Knowledge of desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Familiarity with online publishing techniques and HTML.
