Kaká… Sony’s new face!

I’m such a big fan of sports marketing, it’s an exciting field, the product itself is amazing; whether it was sports clothing, accessories, clubs, leagues, or even TV subscriptions, you gotta love it! And most importantly the enthusiastic wide audience that enables an unlimited level of creativity in your promotions; imagine working for an international brand like Nike or Adidas, or a big European football club like Juventus or A.C. Milan, wouldn’t this be awsome!

However, as a consumer, I’m not really a fan of celebrities endorsement or hiring brand ambassadors, I won’t start liking a product just because they are endorsing a certain singer or athlete; endorsing Roger Federer – my all time favorite tennis player in Gillette’s ad wasn’t a motive for me to start using their fusion power product, I really admire Federer for being the best tennis player ever – he is a maestro, but I guess I’m a painfully rational consumer, but anyway there is no questioning about the efficiency of celebrities endorsement.

Sony, an Official FIFA Partner, has signed a worldwide endorsement contract with Brazilian/Italian football magician Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, or as we know him Kaká, FIFA’s 2007 World Player of the Year. According to their press release, Kaká will appear in several TV Commercials and online promotions to Sony’s High Definition products such as BRAVIA LCD TV, Blu-ray Disc player/recorder, HandycamTM, and Cyber-shotTM.

I’m not sure how efficient this will be, but I’m sure Sony will benefit out of this endorsement!
