When you do a promotion you are trying to convince the audience to test your product/service in order to boost your sales; you are trying to change their consumption habits.
This is not a marketing lesson but I guess what happened in Tunisia during Valentines Day is a lesson for all marketers in the Arab world to learn – Sex Sells.
Sex Sells is a very efficient sales & marketing method, it works like magic as long as it wasn’t phony or artificial, at least that what I do believe. I was reading about a weird promotion in Tunisia where you get a free meal if you kissed your girlfriend/wife in public.
I found it odd and abnormal, why can’t we be natural? If kissing in public is not common in a country why do we encourage it this way? I don’t think that any restaurant/café in Europe or USA would do something like this, obviously because kissing is normal there.
I found it one step close to prostitution; kiss her in public and get a free meal, next time have sex in the street and get one free night at a hotel, dozen of condoms and a porn movie where you star in.

I can’t really understand what’s the big deal! I read the post on elaph, they don’t even say the kiss must be on the lips! do you think it’s a step close to prostitution if a man kissed his wife on her cheek in public?! It’s true that we shouldn’t imitate others blindly, it would be wrong to propagandize something we don’t need, but my personal opinion is that there’s nothing degrading at all in two lovers kissing in public. check out the the commentators underneath the article, it shows what kind of mentalities that rule Arab societies, and I say it’s Arabic and not totally Islamic; I remember the conversation between Ali bin Abi Talib and Omar bin Al Khattab about adultery, Ali told Omar that if he sees two people having sex in the street he would cover them with his robe! not beat them up and put them in jail.

lol well the slippery slope that starts with kissing someone in public and ends up in having sex with them in public is not as steep a slope as you think
we always go to the extreme of everything, a kiss on the cheek wont hurt anyone, we might start seeing loving couples in the street instead of the Arabic couple look that they don’t even walk next to each other, or at least holding hands “ya jama3a your married”
I think its the Arabic mind too and not the Islamic look, and we hide behind our mentality of 3aib culture, and the first image you have of a kiss is something fatal and 3aib and should not happen or kill them both and e’3sel el 3ar
am not saying its right but I think we need to refuse it in more mature way and after understanding the cause that lead to it, and I don’t think it will cause to sex in the street, we have other stuff going on that will lead to that
the guy who thought of this idea is really smart he got us here in Jordan talking about it which is something interesting

realistic part: our society will never accept that, but they accept a cheap whore in a hotel suit (shuka fundukeyye) to the fullest!!
Well its the obligation, let it be natural, if you needed to encourage people to do it then it is not socially accepted or people simply don’t like to do it in public, let things be normal.
I see people kissing in Amman right on the lips in public, they do it cause they like each other they are comfortable to do it in public its fine its up to them, but I will find it odd if the place/restaurant offered free meals or drinks for those kiss, if they like to kiss just let them do it.
Again if it is normal like in the west they wouldn’t promote it this way, I guess.
