The flash of the cameras, the sirens of the silver screen, the shimmer of Swarovski clutch bags. The red carpet offers a world of glamour and drama and dreams. And behind all the dazzling smiles and glittering colours, you will find L’Oreal Paris, helping the Abu Dhabi Film Festival bring those dreams alive.
From October 14th to October 23rd, L’Oreal Paris – Official Make Up Artist of the Cannes Film Festival for the past 13 years and official sponsor of the Venice Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, and the Melbourne Film Festival – will be lighting up yet another red carpet as its expert make-up team creates the glamorous looks for the 2010 Abu Dhabi Film Festival red carpet.
“L’Oreal Paris is a proud patron of leading fashion and film events across the globe. So, how could we resist the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, which looks set to become a hotspot for style, glamour and creativity in 2010? By combining L’Oreal Paris’s unique understanding of beauty and celebrity with the magical, magnetic appeal of these extraordinary actors and actresses, we will be unveiling a portfolio of looks that will encapsulate the spirit of this wonderful event and delight both film fanatics and media fashionistas alike,”
explains Ali Fakih, L’Oreal Paris Marketing Director.
Leading the L’Oreal Paris make up team will be the inspirational Sarah Baldry, who has close to twenty years experience in the make-up industry. Sarah has worked with celebrated international photographers at fashion shows, film events and beauty shoots across the globe.
Asked about the overall look for the Festival, Sarah Baldry reveals “It will be a touch of the Oscars, blending West and East, with a focus on fresh, bright eyes framed by the intense lashes and eyeliner that have been used for centuries in the Middle East and always add extra glam to any make-up trend.”
Sarah went on to outline the products that will be used to create the looks: Flawless skin will be achieved effortlessly with L’Oreal Paris range of Matt Morphose foundations, before adding fresh pink cheeks for a youthful glow. The colour will be placed on the apple of the cheeks, with cheekbones highlighted with a soft beige shadow monochrome to give stronger definition.
Various tones of soft rich blues, aquas, greens and mauves will be applied onto the eyelid, blending upwards and fading out into a soft cream velvet highlighter to add more dazzle to this Abu Dhabi Film Festival look. These shades can be mixed for vibrancy and can also be used simply on their own as each L’Oreal Paris mono chrome eye shadow is rich in colour and texture, adding a soft sheen to all eye make-up looks.
The perfect pout will be created by L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipsticks in neutral tones with the addition of L’Oreal Paris Glam Shine Gloss.
Finally, the finishing touch will be provided by L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Mascara to create the red carpet look’s signature full lashes. To give greater intensity to the shape of the eye, liquid eyeliner will be placed along the upper lash line.
L’Oreal Paris will also have a podium set up, complete with expert makeup artists and their latest makeup collection, inside Emirates’ Palace, a few metres from the auditorium where the ceremonies are held. As Fakih declares, “L’Oréal Paris will continue its support of filmmakers and film lovers by offering tips, make-overs, and free touch-ups to all Festival VIPs who visit the Festival.”
