Our client, an event management company, is currently seeking for Manager Press Media
Managerial Role:
• Manage and coordinate all Press & Media functions and resources, and ensure that all functions are executed efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner;
• Delegate and monitor the functions, goals, objectives and programs of the Press & Media Section;
• Prepare reports for the Senior Manager- Communications & Media on the overall performance of the Press & Media Section;
• Review and evaluate the work of staff under their supervision, and ensure that resources are used effectively and that all activities comply with policies and procedures;
• Advise the Senior Manager- Communications & Media on the progress of all work under their control.;
Organizational Role:
• Ensure availability of required resources to carry out all the tasks related to the Press & Media Section;
• Perform periodic performance appraisals for the team within the Press & Media Section;
• Ensure that all staff acquire the required skills and knowledge through appropriate training programs;
• Ensure that policies and procedures for various functions within the section are documented and adhered to;
• Ensure that all technology needs of the section are identified to ensure the section’s processes are performed efficiently and cost effectively;
Functional Role:
• Manage and supervise the development of publications (journals, magazines etc) for the company and supervise the coordination with web developers on updating items and information related to events/programs/festivals etc on website;
• Manage and supervise the coordination of all logistics pertaining to publication of the company journal articles/magazines etc including submissions to editors, supervising contacts with potential and actual authors, ensuring the smooth flow of manuscripts and proofs to authors, copy editors, and press, oversight of permissions and copyright, ensuring deadlines are met;
• Manage and supervise the maintenance of accurate, auditable records for interactions with external contributors, copy editor(s), and subscribers;
• Supervise the creating and maintaining databases of contact information for contributors and subscribers;
• Create a statistics database for annual reports including number of submissions, percentages of acceptances and rejections; number of annual publications of articles, reviews, review essays, and columns, creating a database of rights and permissions granted, sent to reviewers, library, tracking databases;
• Manage and supervise the administration of all contracted relations with publishers, management services, and other vendors/service providers, coordinating communications between vendors and editors;
• Coordinate and attend meetings as needed to outline publication, production, and procedures, coordinating external agencies;
• Manage and supervise the coordination of the compilation and preparation of accepted materials for copy editing;
• Supervise editors on the arrangement and compilation of publications contents, and maintain liaison among editors;
• Supervise the proofreading of copyedited materials as required at various stages of the publication, process, consulting with editors;
• Approve the evaluated materials for printing and electronic production, performing final quality check on final files before releasing for printing • Providing liaison between editors and contracted publisher/printer about approved specifications representing the journal to publisher/printer to ensure quality of printed product;
• Ensure that information is collated from other departments of the company required to develop contends for the company’s publications;
Skills
Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Visual Communication / Journalism / Marketing or equivalent;
• • Preferably Master Degree in Mass Communication / Journalism / Marketing or equivalent;
• Preferred Experience:
• A minimum of 6 – 8 years relevant experience in Communication & Media in a public / private sector organization.;
