Managing Editor – Online Web (Arabic Speaking) | Dubai, UAE

The Role
• Manage editorial teams in location and across the region
• Ensures the availability of editorial effort to serve audience needs across a range of channels
• Leads the commissioning, development and production plans of seasonal editorial coverage.
• Deliver on the strategies and editorial policies
• Drive the localization and production tasks that are critical for the right product experience.
• Ensure content and feature freshness and relevancy on a daily basis
• Account manage content partners to ensure that content is high quality and relevant.
• Check content constantly and ensure partners are working to criteria
• Co-ordinates with the relevant departments to ensure alignment with best practice across the region
• Identify new content sources and support product management and business development on content acquisition
• Work closely with internal sales, marketing and product teams as well as external partners
• Represent local market requirements to the business and product managers
• Work closely with head of Audience and product marketing to best serve local segments
• Train staff in best practices in areas to include compliance
• Contribute ideas to content and product development
• Meet targets and deliver on various performance indicators
• Manage escalated issues from the editorial teams and in consultation with legal, marketing and Relevance and the Senior Managing Editor EU/Head of Editorial Operations
• Streamline editorial processes for operational efficiency
• Improve the editorial guidelines for own markets and ensuring the follow on implementation of changes and updates in the local market(s) to align with market business objectives
• Manage the Editorial Team Leads and ensuring the delivery of ?§people?¨ goals
• Conduct Team Lead reviews (Monthly and quarterly performance reviews and Focal reviews) and giving feedback; contributing to Team Lead development planning
• Manage the attrition of staff to agreed targets
• Manage the recruitment of Editors and managing the induction of new hires
• Lead the performance management review process and development planning of Editors in the team

Requirements
• Arabic as a mother tongue or equivalent
• Good knowledge of modern standard Arabic grammar
• Competency in English both written and verbal
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in managing larger teams
• Experience in assigning and commissioning content from various sources
• Good knowledge of the internet and the online media environment
• Presentation skills and strong deadline management
• Great team player and relationship-builder
• Flexible to work in various areas and adaptable to fit a constantly moving industry
• Remote Management Experience preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of business model and portfolio preferred
• Understanding of TV production preferred
• University degree or equivalent required
