Department of Municipal Affairs releases final in three video series on YouTube and Ikbis

Department of Municipal Affairs has launched the second and third in a three video series on the popular web portal, YouTube and its Middle East equivalent, Ikbis.

The videos, entitled ‘What is Abu Dhabi’ and ‘Abu Dhabi (Department of Municipal Affairs)’ highlights recent achievements of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and related municipalities (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Western Region Municipalities) through public dialogue and testimonials on the developments currently taking place in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Following the launch of its strategic plan on the 5th of May 2008, Department of Municipal Affairs is forging ahead with various initiatives to further communicate the role of municipal services to the residents of Abu Dhabi. YouTube and Ikbis, the most widely accessed web portals for online videos, have been chosen to help the media savvy Department of Municipal Affairs articulate their mission of ‘providing distinctive municipal services that enhance the quality of living of all residents through coordination, oversight, and monitoring of the Abu Dhabi municipalities and municipal councils.’ As well as encourage transparency, knowledge sharing, collaboration, and accountability within the three municipalities and their publics.

The duration of the video ‘What is Abu Dhabi’ is nine minutes and includes stunning visual highlights from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, along with discourse on current developments and the future direction of the Emirate from tourists, expatriates and Emiratis.

The video entitled ‘Abu Dhabi (Department of Municipal Affairs)’ runs for just under six minutes and features candid dialogue with H.E. Dr. Juan Salem Al Dhaheri, Chairman, Department of Municipal Affairs, as well as H.E. Hamoud Humaid Al Mansouri, General Manager, Western Region Municipality. The video helps to illustrate some of the new initiatives that are being implemented by the Department of Municipal Affairs as well as the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Western Region Municipalities, and to explain the relationships and exchange of ideas that regularly transpires between the three municipalities and parent organization, Department of Municipal Affairs.

The DMA is inviting people to visit these two sites and provide some feedback on the initiative - video, share their thoughts on the City, or even post testimonials of what they would like to see develop throughout the three municipalities, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Western Region.

As prelude to the upcoming launch of the official DMA website, additional non-traditional programs and significant interactive online campaigns are being developed to engage and enhance the department’s planned proactive approach to gathering information and feedback from the public it serves.
