Saudi Telecom STC has announced a new corporate identity, personally I though it’s much much better than the old one, however I didn’t really get the new one, but it seems fresher than before. I was expecting a full rebranding, the teleco-driven-initials brand names is kind of old fashion.
STC is relatively a large-scale operator, with more than 18 million subscribers in Saudi Arabia, in addition, they operate in Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Kuwait and South Africa.
A while back I posted a TV Commercial for the ADSL from STC, it’s really funny and I liked it, but I was surprised to see the negative feedback that some users expressed in their comments, they were talking about a horrible service from STC.

I don’t know, I didn’t like it.
One of the main reasons behind this rebranding is to change the negative sentiments Saudi people have against STC due to their horrible services, especially their internet services which fall miserably short considering the high demand for high speed internet in a country with a young population and a booming economy. I think many people would like to see STC spend the huge amount of money allocated to this rebranding on upgrading their internet infrastructure.

The investment unit played a main role in sealing $3 billion strategic agreements with Binariang, Malaysia’s Maxis and Indonesia’s Natrindo Telepon Seluler (NTS).
Meaning… after acquiring share at PT Natrindo Telepon Seluler (Indonesia) … guess what?

Coz the usual stuff – the smaller company (say.. like brother/sister company) follow or use company identity elements from the big company (parent/main company).
example: Korean Daewoo Motors. after investment made by US General Motors on this company… now Daewoo (logo) cars transform to Chevrolet (part of GM product).
STC is a big company… show it to Zain and Mobily – that you are.. really BIG! not copying company IDENTITY from your small company.

come on guys,,, it is obvious they are copying Zain’s colors and in their adverts they are trying to replicate that of Zain’s social responsibility…
if they start copying competition then they have already positioned themselves as followers…. for leaders don’t usually copy anyone.

You will notice that STC has Subsidiaries, associates and affiliates apparently all sharing the same logo.
Saudi Telecom own AXIS its theirs!!! Duh! It’s their company in Indonesia
