Second Day of Inspiration at The Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity
12 March 2013 – The Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity, the leading awards and festival for creative excellence in advertising and communications in the Middle East and North Africa, has seen a second day of thought-provoking content and networking.
Delegates to the Festival yesterday enjoyed a packed day of content. Seminars included the likes of Wesley ter Haar, COO & Founder of Media Monks; Roy Haddad, Director of WPP MENA; Mohamed Parham Al Awadhi, one half of The Wild Peeta Brothers; Mounir Harfouche, CEO, Creative Leader, Lowe MENA; Ramzy Abouchacra, CEO, Initiative Middle East; and Roopak Saluja, Founder, Chief Executive Officer, The 120 Media Collective. Alongside the seminars, master classes from OgilvyAction MENA, calligrapher Wissam Shawkat, and Diwanee have taken place.
Elsewhere at the Festival, huge emphasis has been put on training and the development of talent. New learning programmes include the Dubai Lynx Digital Lab powered by TBWA/RAAD DAN for marketers and digital enthusiasts who have been in their roles for around five years; Future Leaders of Marketing, powered by Starcom MediaVest Group, for young marketers and brand managers; and Think Tank powered by JWT, which begins today, a programme designed to help senior marketers to better understand creativity in brand communications and ensure that client strategies remain effective in today’s constantly evolving business environment.
Additional competitions have been added to the line-up this year. The Dubai Lynx 7-Day Brief, powered by YouTube, asked the MENA region to create a 30-second ad to fit a brief set by the charity Red Crescent. The two winners Mounaz Abdel Raouf and Abey Joseph Yohanan received an all-expenses-paid trip to the Festival and yesterday took part in a dedicated winners presentation with Red Crescent representatives Mohamed Abdullah Alhaj Alzarouni, General Manager of the Dubai branch and Fahad Abdul Rahman Bin Sultan, Assistant to the General Secretary as well as Tarek Abdalla, Head Of Marketing at Google. Also launched for 2013, the Dubai Lynx Masar Creative Award for Print invited students from the region to design a poster to fit the brief given by the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. All entries have been judged by members of the official Dubai Lynx jury and the winners will be honoured on stage at the awards.
Last night, attendees were able to unwind and mingle with fellow industry members at Networking Cocktails at Lynx Connect, sponsored by Motivate. This year’s Festival has been attended by a record 1300 delegates, 11% of which have come from client marketing companies.
