THE BANFF WORLD MEDIA FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2018 DIVERSITY OF VOICES INITIATIVE PARTICIPANTS

Up to 100 Canadian emerging and established Indigenous, Francophone and Women creator/producers to be hosted at the festival and participate in networking and market access programming.

TORONTO, Canada. May 16, 2018 – The Banff World Media Festival (BANFF), in partnership with the Canada Media Fund – Fonds des médias du Canada (CMF/FMC), the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC), and Canada’s Indigenous Screen Office, is pleased to announce the recipients of the inaugural Diversity of Voices Initiative.

Diversity of Voices will give up to one hundred (100) producers the opportunity to attend the 39th Banff World Media Festival (June 10-13, 2018) and will gain access to bespoke training and networking opportunities with key industry decision makers.

In addition, 25 of this year’s applicants will also participate in the Diversity of Voices Pitch Program, where they will receive individual mentorship from media leaders, as well as the opportunity to take private pitch meetings with international buyers at the festival.

“BANFF is world renowned for being one of the most effective global events where new, original content is pitched, financed and greenlit,” said Jenn Kuzmyk, Executive Director, Banff World Media Festival. “It’s important for the festival and our partners to support creators and producers.
