Viva, Kuwait’s advanced mobile telecommunications service provider, announced the launch of the Viva App Club with Kuwait’s youngest application developer, 15 year old Abdulrahman Al Zanki. The Viva App Club held its first training session on Saturday 21 April.
The Viva App Club is the first club of its kind in Kuwait to cater for application developers. Viva are committed to developing Kuwaiti talent in this exciting area and are especially proud to be the first Kuwaiti company to officially recognise Abdulrahman’s skills. His world-wide success with ‘Doodle Destroy’ has been an inspiration for young application designers everywhere and an example of what Kuwaiti youth can achieve, using initiative, commitment and creativity.
Viva’s close relationship with Apple, as official distributors in Kuwait, along with Abdulrahman’s talent in developing applications, makes the Viva App Club a perfect platform for the company to highlight the importance of youth development in Kuwait. Abdulrahman is truly a wonderful example of the sort of talent Kuwait can produce and Viva hopes that his success is the first of many individual Kuwaiti success stories in the future.
The company will use Abdulrahman’s skills over the course of three months, during which time it plans to host 60 app developers from the age 13 -18 years. The club will host workshops on a bi-weekly basis, and will include topics such as ‘basics of app development’ and ‘steps to create your own application’. The first session on 21 April welcomed 20 young developers, who got a first-hand experience from Al Zanki on how to build an app. In the second session they will be able to present their app ideas for valuation by Al Zanki and the Viva team.
Abdulrahman Al Zanki is the developer behind the successful and exciting game ‘Doodle Destroy’, which he offers as a free download via Apple’s iTunes website as an iPhone and iPad application. The game was first published in April 2010 and surpassed a million downloads within its first year.
Viva will continue to open new chapters on its commitment and dedication towards all sectors of Kuwaiti society, reaffirming its position as a socially dedicated and responsible institution.
