What would you do to go viral? There are few ways, being “politically incorrect” is one way to go, misspelling your own brand name in a big football match is another, well, it’s practically the same.
Volkswagen ran this stunt in France last month where they wrote their own name on the stadium’s billboards, the stunt was done during a football match between France and Brazil, the match was expected to attract 6 Million viewers and 80,000 spectators, which should be good enough to generate buzz on the internet.
The idea is really cool, specially that the brand was there to turn the stunt around, but if you search for #Wolkswagen on Twitter, you’ll get many tweets of people who seem to be using it genuinely, not sure if it’s a common typo or it’s how some people write Volkswagen.
