How much can we save with more efficient use of energy?

Entega is a leading company that provide green energy in Germany, to raise awareness around the energy efficiency topic, “Der Stromfresser” (The Electricity Hog) an art installation in the shape of an igloo was set in one of the busiest places in Hamburg, it was built using 322 fridges. The hog was 5.6 meters high and 11 meters wide, and open 24 hours for a period of 12 days.

The idea was to focus on the fact that the wasted energy is still an energy that we can benefit from, this project was implemented during October/November during the cold weather, so whenever you go inside you will feel the warmth coming the rejected heat of the running fridges, and message was clear: Wastefulness is the Biggest Source of Energy. With more efficient use of energy, Germany could save 40%.

The sufferance of Palestinians continues as Apartheid Israel continues to kill innocent Palestinians, destroy their homes, and prevent them for the basic human rights, peace? I don’t think so, with such an evil county like Israel there is no room for peace. Here is another great video form the guys behind the never before campaign, join their YouTube channel if you haven’t.

Here I will quote them:

For decades we have heard almost everyone talk about peace in the Holy Land. What is certain is that no one needs peace more than the Palestinian people. Since before 1948, the Palestinian people have been living under the threat of wars and massacres, under occupation and oppression, deprived of their basic rights. But it is real peace that the Palestinians seek, in contrast to the false peace that is being sought at the expense of justice.

As if humanity haven’t learned from the millions killed due to the lack of justice. One would think it would have been obvious by now that there is no peace without justice, and that no people will accept to lie down and accept injustice upon their children. Palestine is no exception. Let there be one or a hundred peace processes. Let there be one or a hundred alternative remedies. Real peace will only prevail when justice does.

Help Palestinian Refugees with Zain

Lend a helping hand to Palestinian refugees in Levant with this fund raising SMS campaign with Zain and the UNRWA. The ad is really touching, it was shot in Bourj el-Barajneh refugee camp in Lebanon, and it reveals how those refugees can still enjoy some hope despite all the unimaginable and inhuman conditions they live.

This may be just another humanitarian ad. But are you just another viewer?

Google believes that Israelis are peace lovers, Arabs aren’t! Not really!

Well, I’m a big fan of Google, it’s one of the best things you can ever use in your daily life, however being an Arab I’ve always find it difficult to believe accusations that Google is biased to Israel, I guess I blogged about it once as I was really frustrated during the Israeli war on Gaza, but personally I believe they are not.

Once I was searching for something related to the Holocaust, and I found an ad where Google are denying any responsibility of the content you are about to browse, I mean everybody knows this, why do you have to highlight it?

A friend of mine dragged my attention to a really weird thing on Google translate, if you write that Israelis don’t like peace, in Arabic, the translation comes: Israel is a peace-loving, while if you write Arabs don’t like peace, you get the correct translation.

At the beginning I found it weird, I mean everything is automated in Google, how come this happens? I decided to do a little experiment:

If you write: الاسرائيلي لا يحب السلام you will get the wrong translation, which is: Israel is a peace-loving
But if you try: الإسرائيلي لا يحب السلام you will get the right translation, which is: Israel does not love peace

If you are an Arab you will notice the difference.

So eventually I decided to contribute the correct answer, hopefully they will fix it!

Gaza… The last siege on earth

The very existence of State of Israel is shame on humanity, it’s a living proof that there are justice in this world. In few words; in 1917 Britain gave its shameful promise, Balfour Declaration, to the British Jewish community to turn Palestine into a homeland of all Jews of the world, that led to many decades of occupation to the holy land of Palestine, where Israel killed, tortured, detained Palestinians and Arabs from neighboring countries.

And today, after all these years of inhumanity, Gaza is still under the siege, where people don’t find food, water, medicine, or even homes to live in, can you define humanity once again?
