The Global Day at the American University of Sharjah

What a nice experience, last Thursday I went to the Global Day at the American University of Sharjah, as you can see from the pictures, students from various countries presented their heritage through dresses, dances and food to the public. The only problem is that I can’t get good photos at night, this is the best I managed to get.

The beginning was the UAE, the Emirati section was one of the biggest sections in the event, it featured several kiosks that gives you an overview of the UAE heritage, and decorations were really good. I enjoyed the traditional dances they demonstrated during the event.

Next to the UAE was Palestine with a theme inspired by the Israeli wall, one long wall surrounded the Palestinian kiosks, it was marked with some messages calling for piece. Here also the traditional dance “dabkkeh” was something exciting to see, the nice thing is people from different countries joined the dances, which is really nice,

The Jordanian section was joyful with fresh red color, the setting was more of a traditional living room, which highlights the hospitality that Jordan, and Arabia in general, enjoys. Next to Jordanian yard couple of traditional dances “dabkkeh” took place, here also students from different nationalities joined the dances.

The Iraqi section, with a nice design inspired by Ishtar Gate at the old Babylon.

The Circassians presented some nice traditional dances, unfortunately I’m not a good photographer at night, I could of got more nice shots here, but that’s all I got.

Arab countries of North Africa were there, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria with nice kiosks.

Saudi Arabia hosted a nice section that featured several milestones of the Kingdom, and I must say it was interesting, the dancing was so exciting.

Turkey is a country that I admire, it’s one of my very favorite countries ever.

Afghanistan was there despite the occupation and war some students made it and created this booth.
