PR & Corporate Communications Associate / Editor | Abu Dhabi, UAE

The PR Associate will work in close liaison with the PR Manager and will be involved in all aspects of Marketing, CSR, Investor Relations and Public Relations, including: planning; advertising; promotion; public/media relations; sponsorship; and research. The role is often challenging, varied and exciting.

The work of a PR/Editor Associate is usually very varied. Tasks typically involve:
- Managing the production of marketing materials and collaterals , including brochures, annual reports, leaflets, posters and flyers, major announcements, and quarterly operational updates- this can involve writing and proofreading copy, and liaising with designers and printers.
- Generating topics for articles to be included in company newsletter and intranet .
- Holding regular features meetings where the whole department generates new ideas.
- Be responsible for drafting, editing, proofreading and translating of the company collaterals –brochures, annual report, fact sheets, etc.
- Regularly update and maintain the company website.
- Review literature in the assigned marketing project, previous marketing materials used in the assignment area, and gather materials of competitive companies in the field.
- Write draft speeches for senior management and review proposed speech with the executive. Arrange for necessary speaking aids. Attends the presentation and offers feedback to the speaker.
- Research, write, develop sketches of supporting graphics, and consult with printing firm representatives on the needs of the particular project. Presents recommendations to PR Manager.
- Where appropriate, arranges for the development of videotape scripts and selects a film producer to handle the assignment. Overviews editing and voice-overs to assure quality production in line with the parameters of the assignment.
- Prepare and distribute high quality and creative press releases for circulation to press. Following up and securing the inclusion of editorial/copy in national, local, specialist and industry press and magazines.
- Develop and coordinate multimedia packages—letters, brochures, video, point-of-purchase displays—for particular assignments.
- Maintaining and building contacts with the media.
- Organizing all sponsor-related publicity materials including signage and press kits.
- Attending and promoting client events to the media.
- Develop draft advertising text and layouts as part of campaign materials and presents.
- Attend seminars, conferences and trade fairs; staff company booth or exhibit at trade and community fairs.
- Be the referral person for questions on department communications materials.

PR/Marketing duties such as:
- Liaising and building relationships with a range of stakeholders, e.g.: , board members, partners, public, staff.
- Developing advertising opportunities, which can involve placing adverts in national, regional and specialist publications, or/and on the broadcast / new media.
- Arranging for the effective distribution of marketing materials.
- Event management, including press conferences, staff and promotional events.
- Organizing, sponsoring and attending events and exhibitions.
- Carrying out market research and customer surveys to assess brand positioning and awareness.
- Evaluating marketing campaigns; and contributing to long-term marketing / PR plans and strategies.
- Managing budgets.
- Supporting the PR manager, and other colleagues.
- Aiding in the overseeing and maintaining of company’s website.
- Aiding in preparation and production of company promotional items and gifts.
- Managing the PR aspect of a possible crisis situation.

Person Profile and Specific Job Skills:
- Able to communicate and motivate via written media.
- Understands the principles of marketing and advertising cost-effectiveness, including market sector targeting, product offer development, etc.
- Appreciates need for consistency within company’s growing brand and marketing mix.
- A confident presenter to a large audience.
- Ambitious and extremely self-motivated with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and accuracy.
- A natural forward planner who can drive a project from conception to completion.
- A creative and empathic communicator, able to see things from the target audiences’ perspective.
- Friendly and outgoing, able to quickly develop new professional relationships with key people. Get on with others in the company and be a leading team-player in a growing department.

Skills / Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Advertising, or Communications. Graduate work in Journalism preferred.
- At least two to five years of solid writing and editing experience (in both languages –Arabic and English), preferably with the energy, business or investment sectors.
- Superior presentation and analytical skills.
- Experience in publishing under regular deadlines, and the demonstrated ability to thoroughly research stories and topics while handling multiple tasks in a fairly organized manner.
- An ability to brainstorm effectively with strong-willed editorial collaborators is a major plus.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed on assignments.
