Dubai–UAE: 17 March, 2012 – Sony Mobile Communications today announced the launch of Xperia sola, the latest addition to its portfolio of Android™ powered Xperia smartphones. Complete with Sony technology, premium entertainment and innovative ‘floating touch’ navigation, the NFC-enabled Xperia sola comes equipped with Xperia SmartTags, allowing consumers to change their smartphone settings and applications in an instant.

Xperia sola will be available to consumers globally in black, white and red during the second quarter of 2012.

A floating touch of magic
Making its smartphone debut exclusively on Xperia sola, Sony’s unique ‘floating touch’ lets consumers navigate the web simply by hovering their finger above the screen. Once the desired link is found, it can be highlighted and gently tapped to upload the page. ‘Floating touch’ will evolve with new user functionality and applications through software updates and engagement with developers.

Simplify the everyday experience with SmartTags
Xperia sola is NFC enabled and comes with two NFC Xperia SmartTags in the box to simplify consumers’ everyday smartphone experiences. Touching an NFC Android smartphone on a SmartTag allows a pre-configured profile to be launched. The two SmartTags included with Xperia sola can be personalized with up to 10 commands. Once out of the box, one SmartTag is ready for the living room to turn on Wi-Fi™ and launch Google™ news and weather apps, while the other for the bedroom to turn on the alarm and switch to silent mode. Xperia sola supports NFC pairing, offering greater connectivity with other NFC smartphones, applications and services through tapping the devices together.

Dubai-UAE: 12 March, 2012 – Sony Mobile Communications, formerly Sony Ericsson, today announced the Middle East launch of the eagerly anticipated Xperia S smartphone during a glittering press conference hosted at Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa. The Middle East launch follows a successful global debut at International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 and Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012.

The event offered a demonstration of the feature-rich smartphone highlighting key functionalities such as the ‘connected entertainment experience’. Sony Mobile Communications Launches Xperia S in Middle East Market

The user interface has been restyled to match the minimalistic design of the hardware. The home screen features a new colorful flow background making full usage of HD Bravia Reality Display and dual-core processing power.

Xperia S is set to deliver a stunning viewing experience with a high resolution screen, full Sony Bravia HD, powerful 1.5GHz dual-core processor for faster performance and a 12MP camera with Exmor sensor that takes pictures in just 1.5 seconds from standby mode.

The smartphone is also near field communication (NFC) enabled allowing users to share content with each other and enjoy an increasing number of NFC applications and services as well as Xperia SmartTags.

Dubai-UAE: 21 February 2012 – Sony Ericsson today announced it has received four Product Design recognitions at the International Forum of Design (iF) Awards in the telecommunications category. Its latest offering ‘Xperia active’ received top honors – the Gold Award.

The iF’s comprehensive judging criteria include quality of design and finish, choice of materials, environmental impact and functionality. The awards ceremony took place in Munich, Germany on February 9, 2012.

Sony Ericsson is a 50:50 joint venture between Sony Corporation (“Sony”) and Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (“Ericsson”). Dubai-UAE: 19 February, 2012 – Sony Ericsson, the Lead Global Sponsor of the WTA Tour, is set to welcome top-seeded tennis stars to Dubai this week for the Dubai Duty Free Championships. Running into its 12th year, the hugely popular tournament will see players battle it out for the total prize money of US$2,000,000.

The event will be held from 20–25 February under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

As a key highlight, Sony Ericsson will host an autograph signing session on 23 and 25 February at its booth, giving fans a chance to meet a top-seed favourite.

Hosted at the 5,000-seater Dubai Tennis Stadium, the tournament will feature Victoria Azarenka, Petra Kvitova, Sam Stosur and Vera Zvonareva. Sony Ericsson’s brand ambassador and reigning Dubai champion Caroline Wozniacki will vie to retain her title, which will advance her march towards regaining her world number one spot.

The qualifiers are scheduled to begin on Saturday, 18 February. The first set of games will take centre court on Monday, 20 February, while the finals are slated for Saturday, 25 February. The venue includes dedicated ‘Public and VIP Villages’ at the popular Irish Village and Century Village.
