Broadcast Engineer | Tower Media ME Dubai, UAE

Job Purpose
The role of the Broadcast Engineer is to organize, manage and maintain all aspects of broadcast technical services and infrastructure of Alaan TV /Jawna TV including downlink satellite services and fiber connectivity to and from the facility to ensure uninterrupted broadcasting of the produced programming.

1. Responsibilities
The principal responsibilities of the Broadcast Engineer are to:
· Ensure that the channels are on air without interruption at all times.
· Respond in a timely and efficient manner to all technical issues and problems that arise.
· Prepare and lead effective implementation of maintenance schedule for all the technical equipment.
· Ensure technical competence and updating of all operational and engineering employees to perform their roles.
· Be familiar with current technologies
· Identify learning and development needs of the function.
· Set targets and standards of performance for function team members.
· Manage the performance of individual members of the function.
· Update knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis.

2. Contacts and Impact of Interaction
· Frequent contact with the Broadcast, Operations & Engineering team on all broadcasting, operations and engineering matters.
· Regular contact with equipment manufacturers and service providers for procurement and maintenance of equipment.

3. Degree of Independence/Complexity of Environment
· Independent in planning and execution of work.
· Independently taking all operational decisions.
· Technical troubleshooting and logical problem analysis in high pressure and uncertain environment.
· Sensitivity to the pressures of the Programming Department.
· Benchmarking and continuous improvement of changes in broadcast technology and standards.
4. Performance Measures/Success Factors
· Channel on air without interruption for technical reasons.
· Ability to plan and resolve engineering problems effectively and efficiently.
· End user satisfaction with the effectiveness and timeliness of technical support provided.
· Compliance with all relevant technical and broadcasting standards.
· Having a hands-on approach to all technical tasks.
· Technical competence of engineering staff.
· Effective performance of engineering staff.
5. Minimum Knowledge, Skill and Experience Requirements
· Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
· Updated knowledge of current technologies and latest developments in hardware and software.
6. Competency Requirement
· Normal color vision and hearing.
· Excellent communication skills with people at all levels in operations and production.
· Ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and resolve problems.
· Ability to motivate and direct a young, dynamic team.
· Ability to adapt approach and behavior to changes in the work environment.
· Patience, self-motivation and the ability to use initiative under pressure.
· Fair understanding of finance for producing management reports as required.
