  • Winners of Arab Journalism Awards 2012 to be Honoured at Gala Ceremony on 9 May

Dubai-UAE: 14 April, 2012 – Dubai Press Club, organisers of the Arab Media Forum and the Arab Journalism Awards, today released the names of three journalists shortlisted for the 2012 edition of the awards. The list features 36 media-persons from around the Arab world, including eight from the UAE.

The winners will be honoured at a gala ceremony at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai on 9 May under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Muna Bu Samra, Deputy Manager, Arab Journalism Awards, said: “Over the last two years, we have been inviting digital submissions for the awards and encouraged the inclusion of electronically published content across all categories. Our move into the technology space has driven considerable increase in the number of entries. It also indicates the evolution of online journalism in the Arab region.

“We would like to congratulate all shortlisted nominees and believe each one of them is a winner. To have emerged in the top 36 among hundreds of submissions is no mean task and speaks high of their calibre and commitment to producing quality work. I would also like to thank the 60 jury members for their conscientious effort in selecting the nominees. Stalwarts in the field of journalism, their valuable inputs have significantly contributed to the development of the Arab Journalism Awards.”
