Batelco goes forward with 21Mbps mobile broadband

Batelco has announced that their customers will soon be able to benefit from super fast mobile Broadband with download speed of up to 21Mbps.

“This is great news for our mobile broadband customers who are currently enjoying 14.4 Mbps while on the go. In line with our strategy to deliver value for money and continuously enhance our services, customers will soon be able to surf the internet at speeds of up to 21Mbps,” said Batelco Chief Executive Bahrain Gert Rieder.

Mr. Rieder added, “The delivery of the 21 Mbps mobile Broadband will give both Batelco and its subscribers the competitive advantage when it comes to swift mobile communications.”

“Batelco’s O-net Mobile Broadband customers and those with High-Speed data access enabled devices will soon be able to browse the Internet and download even larger emails, attachments, music and videos faster than ever before. They will also benefit from an enhanced video conferencing experience with sharper pictures and better speed,” he said.

“Furthermore, Batelco has recently developed and launched enhanced packages for the benefit of customers who have sophisticated telecommunications demands. Among our new and upcoming developments are a number of Firsts as Batelco continues to maintain its record for delivery of innovative products and services,” he added.

Batelco GM Products & Services Adel Daylami elaborated by saying that Batelco was the first to offer a choice of voice & data options in one package to suit all customers’ specific requirements, allowing them to enjoy high speed data access usage while on the move.

“Our recently launched new bundled package, ‘Super34′, features excellent benefits including 2000 free call minutes per month, 100 SMS’s or MMS’s, a free O-net Mobile Broadband device, free 3G internet usage and additionally a free mobile handset and free number, all for only BD34 monthly,” he said.

Customers can also benefit from Batelco’s Mobile Broadband service when using their laptops or PC’s and Batelco’s O-net Plug & Play devices. The new Batelco O-net device offers up to 21.6Mbps data service with a Micro SD card slot in a USB slider design.

“Another ‘first to market’, is the new mobile broadband modems from Batelco with MMS sending capabilities,” explained Mr. Daylami.

In order to suit all usage needs and budgets, a variety of packages are available for O-net Mobile Broadband. Regardless of whether a customer is a high user of voice or mobile broadband services, Batelco’s extensive range of postpaid and mobile broadband packages meets the needs of all customers.

Customers can mix and match the postpaid and mobile broadband packages of their choice and pay according to their usage requirements. Regardless of the package chosen, Batelco’s customers benefit from reliable coverage and speed which is not affected by weather changes, as is the case with WiMax and also regardless of the chosen package Batelco’s customers will soon benefit from the enhanced speed of up to 21 Mbps.

“A further big added benefit for Batelco customers is their access to ’round the clock’ support from Batelco’s 196 Helpdesk should they require it,” added Mr. Daylami.

Batelco also offers an O-net prepaid package and was the first telecom company in the Kingdom to introduce such a package. The prepaid package comes with free SMS’s and a variety of refill options for customers’ convenience.

To ensure the most competitive rates for Batelco customers who travel within the region the Company introduced Unified Data Roaming charges in 2009. Customers pay only the local Bahrain low rate of 600 fils per Mb for data access, when they are roaming in Saudi Arabia (AlJawal & Mobily), UAE (Etisalat & du), Qatar (Qtel), Kuwait (Wataniya & Viva), Oman (Nawras), Egypt (Mobinil), Jordan (Umniah) and Yemen (Sabafon.
