Design Director | Siegel+Gale Doha, Qatar
Job Function :
Oversee and lead creative design solutions from conception through implementation that strategically translate and support the brand strategy.
Scope of role:
We are looking for an individual with an innovative approach to visual communication, strong delegation and decision-making ability. The Design Director must have solid interpersonal capabilities along with superlative verbal, visual, written communication and dynamically presentation skills.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Partner with Consultants and Creative Directors to define project strategy and translate strategy to the development of creative concepts.
Establish the conceptual and stylistic direction for design staff.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining a cohesive and successful partnership between our Client and our internal creative team.
Lead and define Creative Strategy and implementation.
Lead and inspire creative team to develop innovative design solutions, from broad concept development to the creation of preliminary sketches.
Elicit the most innovative work from design team.
Lead creative team and production team to ensure feasibility of design solutions and articulate design principles and guidelines for implementation.
Act as backup to Creative Director in the development and delivery of engaging presentations for internal and external audiences.
Assist with or take the lead on management of day-to-day client relationships, budgets, schedules and project deliverables.
Proactively maintain expertise in graphic design software packages
Participate in new business efforts as requested.
Manage, mentor and train Creative staff to maintain employee retention and quality standards. Manage performance reviews, and goal setting for direct reports. Establish professional development plans for team members.
Provide Consultants/Project Managers with current status of all creative related deliverables.
Partner with Consultants/Program Managers to provide client with estimates, budgets and timelines for the creative portion of each project.
Responsible for profitability of creative portion of client projects.
Adhere to project budgets and deadlines
Skills
Comprehensive understanding of design methodologies, user-experience/interface design, information design, and corporate identity/branding.
Extensive knowledge of typography, layout, color sense and the latest design tools including PhotoShop, QuarkXpress and Illustrator.
7 plus years of innovative design experience in a design, consulting or advertising firm with multi-industry clients; at least 2 years experience motivating and leading teams.
Undergraduate degree (B.F.A.) or equivalent; or 4 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree in design (M.F.A.) or similar specialty preferred.
