Senior Web / Graphic Designer | Bayt.com Amman, Jordan

We, at Bayt.com need creative, committed and experienced Web Designers to join our IT team in Jordan.

As a web designer, your basic role will involve planning, presenting, and developing web pages and web sites that comply with our strict standards and requirements. You will be required to interact with internal departments as well as external clients. You MUST be able to design using Arabic as well as English. Knowledge of French would be an added benefit. You must be able to hand-code XHTML, create graphical images using Photoshop, present web pages reliant on CSS, while ensuring your designs are presentable on all popular browsers (IE6+, FireFox2+, Opera, Safari).

Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate closely with clients (internal and external) at the design stage and present visual ideas on how requirements can be presented to the end-user.
- Create design mock-ups and prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content.
- Produce attractive, usable, and efficient web sites and web pages, in both English and Arabic scripts.
- Hand-code XHTML-compliant web pages – WYSIWYG tools are not allowed.
- Manage a dynamic, templating CSS file used to create multiple variations of the same, base CSS.
- Create and optimize Web content and make sure that they are universally accessible.
- Source, select and organize information for inclusion and design the appearance, layout and flow of the Web site.
- Digitally optimize graphics and content to be presented for the Web.
- Ensure website layouts are accessible and logical; recommend improvements if necessary.
- Accept criticism and redo work if necessary.
- Learn the TCL scripting language and use TCL to write HTML with looping of content, if-statements, etc.
- Use (or learn) Jquery and other Javascript tools to enhance users’ online experience.

Skills
- Arabic and English languages. You will not be considered if you can not design using Arabic.
- Expert experience with CSS, including complex floating, positioning, and layering.
- Designing using table-less XHTML.
- Designing for RTL web sites.
- Creating clean, optimized online graphic design; lazy designing such as fuzzy borders, imperfect curved corners, stretched images, non-crisp images are not accepted.
- Using transparent PNG images in Web designing.
- Design Websites without heavy dependence on images.
- Knowledge of the design quirks of the various browsers (Internet Explorer versus FireFox, for example).

Pluses
- Knowledge of current website design trends.
- Knowledge of SEO and design impacts on SEO.
- Experience in illustration for the online medium (examples).
- Willingness to dive into more complex scripting with TCL.
- Knowledge of French.
