National Geographic Al Arabiya’s nation-wide educational tour arrives at HCT Dubai Women’s College for ‘Library Week’

The National Geographic Al Arabiya UAE Universities & Higher Colleges of Technology Tour arrived in Dubai today, visiting the HCT Dubai Women’s College where the tour will be a highlight of the school’s annual ‘Library Week’ celebrations.
The arrival marks the eighth stop on a national tour of over 26 universities and higher colleges throughout 2011. At each stop National Geographic Al Arabiya magazine showcases a unique photo exhibition, in addition to hosting a series of educational lectures and Q&A seminars for students with National Geographic Al Arabiya Editor, Mohamed Al Hammadi.
The visit to HCT Dubai Women’s College was timed to coincide with their ‘Library Week’ from the 10th- 14th of April, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. As part of National Geographic Al Arabiya’s participation during the awareness week, Mohammed Al Hammadi will present a lecture on the importance of reading and encouraging higher literacy rates in the Middle East.

The next stop on the tour is HCT Madinat Zayed Women’s College in the western region. In addition to the touring National Geographic Al Arabiya exhibition, HCT Madinat Zayed students will also display some of their own photography inspired by the environmental themes of the tour.
“The aim of the National Geographic Al Arabiya UAE Universities & Higher Colleges of Technology Tour is to reach out to all areas of the UAE in order to introduce students from every corner of the country to the amazing world of science and nature, while motivating them to become more aware of their environment. We look forward to arriving at HCT Madinat Zayed Women’s College next week to begin our tour of the Western region,” added Al Hammadi.
The National Geographic Al Arabiya UAE Universities & Higher Colleges of Technology Tour will travel across the UAE until the end of 2011, visiting a selection of Universities and Institutes in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain.
