With downloads reaching 2.3 million per day, Nokia’s Ovi Store focuses on regional developers at GITEX Mobile Apps and Content World

As Ovi Store’s growth continues to gain momentum with 2.3 million downloads per day globally, Nokia is participating at this year’s GITEX to increase awareness on the benefits of developing for Nokia, and extending greater reach to regional developers.

Focusing specifically on developers and mobile applications, Nokia’s participation in Mobile Apps and Content World will see it offering developers training workshops, expert consultancy, feedback on applications, new and practical ways to market applications, and advice on how to get it published on Ovi Store.

Moreover, AppsArabia, the new investment fund from twofour54 which is helping to grow a sustainable app development industry throughout the Middle East & North Africa based in Abu Dhabi, will be present at Nokia’s stand at GITEX Mobile Apps and Content World.

Workshops being offering by Nokia for developers at GITEX are “Touch & Type UI on Java” on October 19th, and “Qt Basic & Qt Intermediate” on October 20th.

The Ovi Store has reached the milestone of 2.3 million downloads per day worldwide, with 70 developers and publishers each surpassing the million download mark for their content in the Ovi Store. An updated Ovi Store experience has debuted on the newly available Nokia N8 and coming to the full range of new Symbian smartphones, giving a friendlier look and feel, faster content discovery and more popular content choices. Improvements for developers include new development tools and benefits such as free Java and Symbian signing, in-app purchase and beta in-app advertising programs, improved revenue share and advanced developer analytics. Moreover, significant enhancements to the Nokia Qt Software Development Kit (SDK) have resulted in a 70 percent reduction in the number of lines of code required when developing for the company’s family of Symbian smartphones.
