Dubai, United Arab Emirates (20 October, 2013) – Nissan Middle East recently delivered 20 of its innovative and exciting cars to the lucky winners of competitions run on two of the region’s most popular TV shows. Aired during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Nissan’s sponsorship of MBC1’s top TV shows, Hourouf wa Oulouf and Tarek wa Hayouna, resulted in ten Nissan Altimas, five Nissan Pathfinders, four Nissan Sentra and one Nissan Sunny being won by participants and viewers.

Samir Cherfan, Managing Director, Nissan Middle East commented: “Nissan is committed to delivering innovation and excitement across the Middle East and these competitions encapsulated that spirit along with the giving nature of the Holy Month of Ramadan. Partnering with one of the top rated channels in the region, it allowed us to engage and interact with our customers and we are delighted to receive an outstanding response. Congratulations to all the lucky winners driving away with Nissan.”

Hourouf wa Oulouf offered two competition rolled up into one as viewers could call in or SMS their answers to the quiz questions in order to participate in the ‘live’ show. An automated system chose the letters as each participant then answered the selected questions rapidly. The more questions answered the greater the chance of winning. On faltering, another participant would then take on the challenge, if they failed to answer, the viewer who posed the question walked away with the prize.

Viewers also had the opportunity to take part in another competition which ran in parallel to the live competition on air via SMS. In total, Nissan gave away ten Nissan Altima and five Nissan Pathfinder as prizes, plus a Nissan Sunny for the SMS winner. Meanwhile, Four Nissan Sentra were won on, Tarek wa Hayouna, a game show filled with fun, comedy and excitement.

Commenting on winning the Nissan Pathfinder, Ms. Hiba Farouk Mohamed from Kuwait who took part in the Hourouf wa Oulouf show on MBC1, said: “I have always admired Nissans and when I heard MBC1 was to offer them as prizes it definitely made me want to take part. The all-new Nissan Pathfinder will make a big difference to my family and I, and I guarantee it is very gratefully received. I would like to extend my thank you to MBC1 and Nissan for creating such innovative platforms for audiences and giving them an opportunity of winning and driving a Nissan.”

The competitions proved to be a big hit. MBC1 experienced a significant increase in viewership through the two programmes sponsored by Nissan Middle East, which rose by 85%. The competition also diverted online traffic with 1,914,800 delivered impressions and 26,830 click-throughs during Ramadan.
