Publicis Graphics Jordan Shuts Down Operations!

Well not quite really, but this is an interesting ad by Publicis Graphics Amman announcing their new offices in Um Uthaynah, the twist was a play on words after the buzz around Jordan Festival & Publicis, now for those who didn’t hear of this, many people and organizations in Jordan and other countries called for boycotting Jordan Festival because its being organized by Publicis, which happened to be the organizing company of Israel’s 60th birthday celebrations.
The header says: “Publicis Graphics is closing its offices”, then they conclude by saying: “See how can anyone play on words to change the truth?”

Well actually Publicis did not organize the Jordan festival nor Israel’s celebrations. So no wonder they’re pissed. I love the ad!
Publicis didn’t organize any of those 2 events? Then who dragged their name into this?

publicies did participate in organizing the 60th celebration for Israel. a video of the director of Publicis, a moroccan zionist, was circulated widely. they were about to organize the jordan festival but quickly pulled out when their presence was becoming a liability.
Publicis, did organize various events in jordan, including the Petra conference for nobel prize laureates.
do some search on google and you will find that out.

Firstly, Publicis did not organize the Jordan festival, another French company by the name of Les Viseteurs Du Soir did.
Secondly, the CEO of the company, Levy is a self-proclaimed Zionist who did personally participate in the celebrations, but his company did NOT organize the celebrations, all of which you can check here http://alghad.jo/?news=341936, so i’m curious as to what point you concluded that I lied.

Thank you for doing your research, but I would love to know the source of your research:
A. Publicis first is a holding company and an advertising agency, not an event management company
B. PublicisLive is an event management company and this is an offspring of an entity called Publicis Events
C. Publicis Live organizes the WEF around the world and in Jordan, organizes the Petra Nobel Loreate and many more events
D. Publicis Live, and events did not organize and was not involved in organizing the Jordan Festival
E. Publicis is not owned by Maurice Levy, he is a chairman of the group
F. Publicis as an entity had ZERO involvement in the organization of the 60th Anniversary of Israel
G. It’s also strange that your research did not show you the campaign funded and created by Maurice Levy “Come Join Us” which is a collaboration between 50 Palestinian and Israeli creatives creating a campaign that promotes peace in Palestine.
The purpose of this ad is to illustrate to the reader that in lieu of all the FALSE RUMORS AND LIES that were spread about us as an agency in Jordan, we are still going strong…very strong actually and we each have to be accountable for the words we place in newspapers or actually on blogs…its called integrity.

I agree with Farrah, there is a difference between what the CEO of a company does, and the company’s policy. This applies to both Puclicis and Starbucks which had a similar problem with boycotts due to rumors after its Jewish CEO got honored by a zionist organization.
Publicis did not organize Israel’s anniversary, but it wouldn’t really make a difference even if it did since you’d be hard-pressed to find many International corporations that do not do business in and with Israel.
It’s too bad Publicis can’t sue the union leader who went public with these rumors for ruining their reputation. In the UK they would have got millions in compensation for this type of slander.
Hi Hani…as per our understanding (and the disclaimer is that this is all rumor) is that the whole story was “created” by the Nakabat Al Fananeen (artists’ union) and supported initially by one newspaper in Jordan and the snowball effect came into place; Nakabat Al Muhameyen (Lawyers’ Union) only adopted this cause based on the information they had been feed by the newspaper and the Nakabet Al Fananeen. We hold no grudge and only question why through out the entire ordeal we were not asked to comment or to validate any of the information. Anyway the story is long gone now and we walk away having learnt a lesson and graciously thanking HIS MAJESTY KING ABDULLAH THE SECOND for the “closure” he so elequently created through his interview in all local newspapers.

I’m glad you have your closure. I’m also glad none of the Lebanese Musicians shot after performing their show at the Roman Amphitheater by a lunatic were killed since several sources speculate that the shooter:
A. Subscribe to the rumor described above
B. Assume that their show was part of the Jordan festival (which it wasn’t)
If one of the tourists was killed, we could have added manslaughter to slander. Luckily the lunatic didn’t have the best of aim.
