CineStar Cinemas brings the latest cinema technologies to the UAE

The history of cinema spans over a hundred years. Motion pictures developed gradually from a carnival novelty to one of the most important tools of communication and entertainment in the 20th century.

The cinema industry has experienced much advancement from the days of silent movies to the explosion of RealD digital 3D and Dolby Surround Sound which are now available at all CineStar Cinemas to enhance the cinema experience for its patrons.

RealD 3D technology is the leading provider of 3D systems for movie theatres and allows the experience of seeing the movie behind and in front of the screen itself with a picture and sound quality that is crisper and clearer than traditional cinema. The success of Avatar with over $1bn dollars in global revenues, has confirmed that cinema goers have adapted to this 3D technology and it is bringing people out of their homes and back into the movie theatres in their droves. This appetite for a 3D movie watching experience was further cemented with the recent release of Alice in Wonderland in 3D which took in Global Box Office revenue of $210.3m in its opening weekend.

This trend is set to continue with 3D releases this year of Clash of the Titans, Shrek 4, and the next installment of Harry Potter to name a few.

All CineStar Cinemas in the UAE boast Real Deal 3D Digital screens. Now two of the 10 screens at the new CineStar Mirdif will showcase this technology and as part of the company’s commitment to ensuring the best cinema experience, CineStar has introduced a giant ‘ExtremeScreen” at its newest location. The screen boasts a size of more than 20 metres wide, and CineStar are confident that this will bring fans of Hollywood, Bollywood and everything in between, closer to the action than ever before.
