Here is a really amazing photo of Dubai by the GigaPan, a project that consists of three elements: a robotic camera that captures very high-resolution panoramic images using a standard digital camera (gigapixel and up); a long with custom software for constructing very high-resolution gigapixel panoramas; and a new type of website for exploring, sharing and commenting on gigapixel panoramas and the detail our users will discover within them. This shot was taken on the 23rd of April, 4,250 individual shots taken with a Canon 7D and the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L zoom at 400mm. Total shooting time circa 3 hours 30 minutes, in 37C heat. They’ve done several projects similar to this one, including the Obama inauguration that we reviewed before.
