Under the direction of the Academic Director, the Head Lecturer is responsible for the delivery of the Academy’s Animation Production training programs.

The Head Lecturer will ensure that the training programs are delivered according to the Course Descriptions and that the highest academic standards are maintained in accordance with the Academy’s Policies and Procedures. He will also provide both strategic and operational leadership in the education and professional practice activities of associated staff.

Main Responsibilities
• Initiate proposals for the design, development and review of curriculum in the context of established and emerging research, scholarship, professional practice developments, meeting and shaping needs to meet the Training Academy’s requirements.
• Manage, lead, and effectively deploy the staff associated with the delivery of the 2D Animation and Production course.
• Work with the Academy’s Academic Director in shaping and implementing the Academy’s strategy for the development of staff in relation to education and professional practice.
• Play a key role in the development of learning and teaching strategy, programme delivery, and quality assurance consistent with the Academy’s priorities.
• Prepare and deliver of lectures, seminars and/or tutorials.
• Oversee the operational aspects of streamlining curriculum design and delivery with the aim of improving the student experience.
• Maintain personal and professional development in line with agreed appraisal and development programmes to enhance personal knowledge and contribution to relevant activities.
• Monitor and review the quality of teaching on the course units, carrying out observations and assessments as appropriate, ensuring that quality standards are maintained.
• Manage the physical resources required to support the Animation Production Programs.
• Play a lead role in the recruitment of students.
• Any other duties as directed by the Academic Director as appropriate from time-to-time.

Skills
• Demonstrable extensive professional experience in the animation and production industry.
• 1st degree in animation or computer animation or equivalent.
• Extensive teaching experience in 2D animation and production related subjects.
• Experience in administering training programmes and procedures.
• Project planning and management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional knowledge in relevant computer software applications used in the 2D Animation and production industry such as ToonBoom, Adobe Flash, After Effects etc
• Effective leadership and team-working skills.
• Experience of current learning and teaching methods.
• Extensive international networks in the 2D animation sector and / or in media.

Desirable
• Academic qualification in animation or computer animation at Masters level or equivalent level with relevant professional qualifications and experience in a relevant area.

• Knowledge of modern developments in learning and teaching practices.
• Internationally recognized as a leader in Animation production.
• Ability to provide effective guidance, support, supervision and assessment of students.
• Familiar with relevant assessment techniques.
• Arabic language skills
