Travel Agent Manager | Octopus Advertising Dubai, UAE

We are looking to recruit a commercially focused and experienced individual to help manage the launch and growth of a new travel agency business based in Dubai that is focused on the corporate market. The successful candidate will have a proven track record within the industry in the GCC and will have a detailed operational knowledge of the travel sector. This is a start-up operation that is part of a wider group.

Typical work activities
The individual will be responsible for developing the business from a start-up to a fully functioning corporate travel agent within agreed timelines and budget. This will include advising senior management on all aspects of the set-up, IATA accreditation and implementation of the full service Travel Agency.

• To provide high quality service and travel advice to corporate companies and direct customers
• To advise on the selection and implementation of GDS system;
• Assist in the development of the business plan for the business;
• Developing strategic relationships with key travel partners, including airlines and hotels, to ensure best value and service delivered to corporate clients;
• Grow the business by successfully identifying and pitching to new clients;
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures that meet both the requirements of customers and management;
• Provide MIS and reports to management as required;
• Oversee the smooth, efficient running of the business, including staff management.

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills and Specifications
• Graduate with a degree in Travel & Tourism
• 7+ years corporate travel consultant experience within UAE, with 3 + years at management level preferred
• Ideally IATA certified to the level of consultant
• Knowledge of any of the GDS systems (Galileo, Sabre, Amadeus etc.) as well as hotel and car rental systems.
• Knowledge of world geography and travel and visa restrictions.
• Excellent interpersonal, telephone and customer service skills.
• Must possess leadership qualities and creative skills.
• Fluent in English, friendly and customer focused.
