The Web Editor’s mission is to bring together the content for new websites ensuring all content is relevant, timely, user-focused, well written and grammatically correct. As an experienced writer, you will contribute to the subject matter and maintain the consistency and style of content on the websites that sets the editorial style. You need to be able to work independently with little direction, as well as work collaboratively with a team. You should also develop best practices that create efficient editorial workflows.

Responsibilities
- Write and provide content for feature articles and specialist articles
- Copyedit, proofread and provide light-content edit on a variety of website articles, documents and corresponding graphics
- Make suggestions for editing changes or make actual edits, re-writes, or sub-edit creative material to optimize text and image content
- Identify and develop relationships with reputable writers and key content developers that will contribute content on a freelance basis
- Work with freelancers to ensure that articles are correct, clearly written, accurate, and reflect the style and integrity of Bayt, and that corresponding graphics are accurate and visually convey and enhance the main idea of the written material
- Manage the relationship between editing and technology so that RSS feeds benefit the website automatically
- Coordinate document workflow and edit analysts’ documents; act as a point of contact to answer editorial questions; develop an understanding of that team’s role focus and its related terminology
- Maintain the integrity and overall quality of Bayt’s written communications

Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts (English, Journalism, or Communications majors are preferred but not necessary)
- A thorough knowledge and love of the English language is essential for this position
- Minimum of 2-3 years of editing experience in a professional publishing environment
- An understanding of the high-tech industry and related terminology is preferred. Technical expertise is not necessary, but a thorough understanding of technology is essential to this job
- Must be extremely detail-oriented with high standards for quality
- Strong communication, time-management, and decision-making skills
- Must possess the ability and desire to work with time-critical documents in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work constructively with internal clients and the publishing team
- Excellent computer literacy and strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, is a plus
- Experience of editing non-native English speakers is a plus
