Mohammed Saeed Harib Selects Red Bull Carve the Can Winner
A can, a compass, and a bit of creativity proved enough for participants to showcase their artistic skills
Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 19 May, 2014: The Red Bull Carve the Can finals took place at Lammtara Studio where eleven finalists from seven universities showcased their artistic talents in front of Mohammed Saeed Harib, the creator and director of the wildly popular 3D animated series, FREEJ.
The acclaimed Emirati director was very interested to learn that most of the participants did not have an artistic background, and said: “These guys are not professionals who are studying art, they are just amazingly talented individuals.”
The winning can, which brandished an intricate sketch of a matador and a bull, was submitted by eighteen year old Bits Pilani student Divya Henry, who won a 3 month internship at Lammtara Studio.
Harib said the can ‘spoke to him’ as it had an interesting story, and the artistic technique to back it up.
After taking the participants on a tour of his studio, a space more like a playground than an office, Harib urged the students not to ignore the little artist in them, saying that: “This little artist might one day grow to become the next Da Vinci.”
