NEW YORK, NY (August 25, 2013) — MTV announced today “Catfish: The TV Show” will return for a second season on Saturday, September 7 at 21:10 KSA.  Viewers will join hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph in their cross-country journey uniting young couples taking their online-only romantic relationships offline and in person. This season everything is elevated: the catfish are more sophisticated, the investigations are deeper, the stakes are higher and emotions are intense.

From deep in America’s heartland Nev and Max take a break from tracking down wily catfish to unveil a fast-paced, 30-minute preview of the immersive stories of online romance in the second season.  For the first time, viewers will get a sneak peek at this season, including “Cassie and Steve,” which features a Florida girl who pursues her fiancé, a busy Atlanta rapper, that she’s never met and “Anthony and Marq,” which tells the story of an Iraq veteran captivated by a sensitive mystery man.  In addition, Nev and Max show viewers how they have fun on their few days off and update some of the most intriguing stories that became fan favorites during the show’s first season.

Need another dose of season one?  MTV will also air a marathon of the complete first season on Friday, September 6 and Saturday, September 7.  The marathon, hosted by Nev and Max, will re-introduce viewers to the couples featured in season one, plus give a can’t-miss sneak peek at season two.  Viewers who would like to discuss the “Catfish: The TV Show” premiere on Twitter can hashtag to #catfishpremiere.

The second season comes on the heels of a highly successful first season in which the show was MTV’s highest-rated series premiere in network history and is the highest rated start to an MTV series since 2007.  Additionally, it was the highest-rated new cable series of 2012 and Monday’s #1 cable series.  Season one averaged a 2.3 P12-34 rating, and drew 2.4 million total viewers.
