The Foodshala to Identify UAE’s Top Chef
Dubai-UAE: 25 September, 2012 – For all UAE-based aspiring chefs, here is a chance to feature on television and win AED50,000 worth of prizes. Q Home Décor and Citymax Hotels are set to enter the reality show space with ‘The Foodshala’ in its search for the UAE’s top chef.
The show will be promoted on 105.4 Radio Spice and telecast on leading Asian television channel, COLORS. The qualifying round will be held at Oasis Centre on 28 September (7:00pm-9:00pm). Inviting cooks from across the nation to bring their finest Chinese or Indian gastronomic preparations, the culinary audition will be judged by noted chefs from Citymax Hotels including Executive Chef Robin Gomes, Sous Chef Frozkhan Buhari and Outlet Chef Tek Bahadur.
This program will start airing on COLORS from the first week of November for a duration of 13 weeks. Broadcast across homes in the Middle East during prime-time, the show will be a culinary workshop in every sense of the word.
In the final leg of the contest, three finalists will be selected and evaluated by Chef Gomes on food quality, innovation, and overall performance. The winning recipe will feature on the menu of Citymax Hotel’s popular dine-in restaurants, Claypot and Sizzling Wok, for a year.
The ‘Foodshala’ show-format will double up as the UAE’s first food ‘pathshala’ or classroom for viewers seeking to hone their culinary skills. To participate, join us on the 28th of September, 7 pm to 9 pm at the Oasis Center-Dubai along with your signature dish (serving portion-2), preferably an Indian or Chinese dish. 11 of you will be chosen to get inside the kitchen ring and fight for the ultimate title.
