Ras2ras.com, a social rating platform from Yemen was acquired by an investor from Qatar for an undisclosed amount. Ras2ras.com, which was founded by Amad Almsaodi in 2008, is built around a very simple yet really interesting idea: putting any two comparable things against each other, and letting people vote on which they like best. The startup uses Web 2.0 technology and is based on the community’s contributions.

In a statement regarding the acquisition the Investor, Ahmad Alaji, said: “We see huge opportunities in what Ras2ras.com offers; it’s innovative, unique, and it adds value to the consumers. We were first interested in using the platform for advertising, and as we learned more about the technology and the company operations we saw a very interesting opportunity and lots of room for growth and profit.”

Amad Almsaodi remarked that the purchase will undoubtedly have major impact on the company’s reach, and he said: “We are excited about the new possibilities that are awaiting Ras2ras.com. Our team is currently focused on AqarMap.com: An Innovative Real Estate Marketplace for the Middle East; so the timing of this acquisition was perfect for both parties”.
