Sharjah-UAE: 09 November, 2011 – Sharjah Media Centre, the communication arm of the government of Sharjah, is marking an emphatic presence at the World Travel Market (WTM 2011) through sponsoring the London Guide, a highly anticipated publication that has an audience of over 5,000 exhibitors from 189 countries and 50,000 visitors at one of the largest travel and tourism exhibitions worldwide.

WTM 2011 opened on 7 November at ExCeL-London and will run until 10 November. Regarded as a vibrant business-to-business event, the platform offers a unique opportunity for the entire global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business.

Sharjah Media Centre’s participation at WTM 2011 comes under the directives of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qassimi, Chairman of SMC, to highlight its role as the emirate’s communication vehicle. Towards this end, Osama Samrah, Director of the Centre, is leading the center’s presence at the exhibition through networking with international media and travel professionals.
Additionally, Sharjah Media Centre is showcasing the emirate’s rich cultural heritage and tourist destinations, as well as its diverse educational, entertainment and business facilities. Key facts about Sharjah and the UAE are being shared with visitors in both Arabic and English.

Osama Samrah: “Sponsorship of the London Guide reflects our active participation at World Travel Market 2011 and commitment to work towards positioning Sharjah as a premier tourism destination. The guide is an added opportunity to gain visibility and highlight the role of Sharjah Media Center to exhibitors and global visitors.

“Our interaction with international media and networking with potential partners at the exhibition opens new doors for endorsing Sharjah. We look forward to nurturing contacts established at the exhibition and translating them into strategic relations that will provide a wider and fair coverage of future events in the emirate.”

Sharjah Media Center provides several categories of memberships to journalists, photojournalists, as well as media and journalism students. Membership will allow round-the-year access to diverse information sources as well as offline and online support.
