Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday 9 September, has inaugurated a range of new services launched by Dubai Municipality during its participation in Gitex 2011.
It came during the opening of Gitex 2011. The new services include the launch of i-Dubai application, Usages of national identity card for municipality employees and launch of a new website footprint.dm.ae. The stall also exhibits a number of e-services rendered by municipality as part of its strategy to achieve the zero visit government department and paperless work environment in the nearest future.
Eng. Hussain Nasser lootah, Director General at Dubai Municipality said the municipality is the first government department, which uses national ID card for the benefits of its employees, such as e-signature on documents, punching system and to read the data of landlords.
“We have also launched the i-Dubai application, which helps the iphone users to indentify the locations of important government and private services in the emirate of Dubai and to know the weather conditions of both land and sea. It also helps to complain, comment and evaluate the municipal services as well as to read building and landlord details using QR code system recently introduced by municipality,” he said.
“The newly launched website is all about Ecological Footprint, which is a measure of land and sea area required to produce the resources we consume and to deal with the waste we produce. It provides a general, but meaningful understanding of the impacts of our lifestyle on our mother earth and helps us to compare with others,” he added.
In addition, the officials said that there would be a number of gifts and lucky draws every day for the visitors of municipality stall and participants in seminars on different attractive subjects.
Eng. Mohammed Zafeen, Director of Information Technology Department said the Municipality’s participation in the exhibition would highlight the progress reached by e-government in Dubai, as the exhibition would be an opportunity to learn about the latest in information technology.
“Municipality has been offering new innovative e-services in each year of the exhibition and it aims to spread the culture of e-transformation and to introduce municipal services available on its portal,” Zafeen said.
