Sony Ericsson Ambassador and Reigning Champion Caroline Wozniacki Set to Participate
To Host Autograph Signing Session for Top Seed Player
Dubai-UAE: 19 February, 2012 – Sony Ericsson, the Lead Global Sponsor of the WTA Tour, is set to welcome top-seeded tennis stars to Dubai this week for the Dubai Duty Free Championships. Running into its 12th year, the hugely popular tournament will see players battle it out for the total prize money of US$2,000,000.
The event will be held from 20–25 February under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
As a key highlight, Sony Ericsson will host an autograph signing session on 23 and 25 February at its booth, giving fans a chance to meet a top-seed favourite.
Hosted at the 5,000-seater Dubai Tennis Stadium, the tournament will feature Victoria Azarenka, Petra Kvitova, Sam Stosur and Vera Zvonareva. Sony Ericsson’s brand ambassador and reigning Dubai champion Caroline Wozniacki will vie to retain her title, which will advance her march towards regaining her world number one spot.
The qualifiers are scheduled to begin on Saturday, 18 February. The first set of games will take centre court on Monday, 20 February, while the finals are slated for Saturday, 25 February. The venue includes dedicated ‘Public and VIP Villages’ at the popular Irish Village and Century Village.
